Verification and control

We carefully verify the authenticity of every watch we offer by reviewing every small but crucial detail. To ensure full transparency and authenticity, we provide detailed images to support our verification process.

Boettens Engraving

At each verification, we carefully review the serial number and reference number to ensure that these match the model and year of manufacture of the watch. We also check the font and depth of the engraving to ensure they match the manufacturer's specifications for the current year of manufacture.

Fonts and stampings

The timepiece undergoes an overall assessment where we also carefully examine its condition, finish, stampings, details. In addition to the movement, we check the font and layout of the dial, especially if it is a factory diamond dial, as this is crucial in assessing the authenticity of the dial. We also review the stampings on both the case and the case back to ensure they conform to the manufacturer's specifications for the current year of manufacture. The bracelet and clasp are examined with a focus on stamps and details. If the bracelet has been refurbished, we note this in the ad.

Through our thorough verification process and the detailed images we provide, we can guarantee that every watch we sell is genuine and meets the highest standards of quality and authenticity.

Main risk areas

Boettens Engraving

The reference number and serial number engraving may vary in layout, placement and font depending on the year of manufacture. That's why it's important to buy from a specialist watch dealer, like us at Klocksalongen, to ensure everything is in order. Although copies of the models we sell are rare, it is possible that serial numbers and reference numbers can be changed maliciously, which can be difficult for an uninformed trader to detect.

Font and frame

The font of the dials, the sharpness of the text and the setting of the diamonds may vary depending on the year of manufacture. Especially when it comes to diamond dials, there are many aftermarket dials that can be difficult for an uninformed dealer to spot. At Klocksalongen, we have documented over 100 different dials and can cross-check fonts and other details to ensure authenticity.
